Byrd grew up in a military family and moved 15 times during her first 18 years. She came to Hawaii during a spring break from a mainland college, became enchanted with the beauty and lifestyle of the islands and moved here in 2007.

The couple invited guests for cocktails and appetizers on the rooftop of the hotel which houses “Hell’s Kitchen” chef Gordon Ramsay’s eponymous restaurant.
“Nick and Vanessa greeted guests hand-in-hand,” a witness told People magazine. “Vanessa looked gorgeous in a white dress with a black sash. She and Nick both seemed very excited to celebrate with their families and friends.”
If Brittany York is awarded the title of Miss USA 2011 next month, she’ll be the second woman with a Wilmington connection to wear the crown in the past three years.
York, who graduated from Ashley High School in 2008, would follow in the high-heeled footsteps of Kristen Dalton, a Wilmington Native and Miss USA 2009.
Wearing an evening gown she bought for $300, York won the title of Miss North Carolina USA in November.
Word has it, former Vista-born beauty queen Carrie Prejean Boller and her husband Kyle Boller are the proud parents of an eight-pound baby. Their baby’s birth, expected on Carrie’s grandmother’s May 9 birthday, came slightly late, on May 11, two days shy of Carrie’s own 24th birthday. Contrary to tabloid reports last fall that they were expecting a boy, the new Boller is all girl — Grace Christina.
