SECOND BEST: Runner-up Talia Bennett has been told she is now Miss Universe New Zealand.
Talia Bennett from Auckland’s North Shore was yesterday awarded the title after original winner Avianca Bohm was unable to secure New Zealand citizenship.
South African born Bohm was given awarded the title in June despite not being a New Zealand citizen, and was given until today to gain citizenship.
As a proud Kiwi, I’m looking forward to the day that we get a new national director. Val Lott should have been replaced years ago. In my experience she’s rude and unprofessional and some of her ideas are just plain archaic - like making all the finalists wear their hair up! But great that the mess has been sorted finally and good luck to Talia Bennett at Miss Universe, I’d love to see a Kiwi make the cut again :)
But seriously, getting some fresh blood into the management and rejuvenating the system as the Aussies have would be fantastic!
