The contestants for Miss Indiana USA & Teen USA have been posted (Miss/Teen) and whilst I don’t have contestant numbers from last year, it seems there has been quite a noticeable drop, especially in the Miss division where there are only six contestants.  Three of last year’s runners-up are back - Emily Hart (1RU),  former Miss Indiana Teen USA 2008 Morgan Abel (2RU), who is vying to be the third consecutive 2008 Teen to win in Indiana!) and former Miss Indiana 2009 Nicole Pollard (3RU last year).  A number of past semi-finalists are also back.  Destiny Dever, twice a runner-up and once a semi-finalist in Kentucky, is also competing.

In the Teen division runners-up from last year include Madison Boldry (2RU) and Mariah Scott (3RU).

Congrats to Megan Myrehn, Miss Indiana USA 2012 & Mackenzie Surber, Miss Indiana Teen USA 2012!

Megan is the seventh former teen crowned this year and the seventh crowned in Indiana since 2000.  She succeeds Jillian Wunderlich who she competed against at Miss Teen USA 2008.  Both Megan & Jillian made the top 15 representing other states at Miss Teen USA - Jillian was Miss Florida Teen USA & Megan was Miss Virginia Teen USA.  Morgan Abel, Miss Indiana Teen USA 2008 placed second runner-up.  

Megan grew up in Indiana, lived in Japan for a few years and then moved to Virginia with her family in 2003.  She returned to Indiana to attend DePauw University for college.  She is the first Miss Virginia Teen USA to win another state’s Miss title.

In a rare occurrence two of the top five were former Teen USA titleholders, one was a former Miss Indiana (MAO) and the remaining two were runners-up for the third consecutive year.

Mackenzie placed third runner-up last year and is the first returning runner-up (and first returning contestant) to win since Morgan Abel in 2008.
