Congratulations to Miss Iowa USA 2013 Richelle Orr and Miss Iowa Teen USA 2013 Morgan Kofoid.  Richelle is the first 2011 Teen to win a Miss state title and Iowa’s first Teen to win Miss since Jamie Solinger in 1998 (a history of former Iowa teens who have competed in Miss USA state pageants can be found here).  Morgan was competing for the first time.

Miss Tennessee USA & Teen USA was held on Saturday, with Brenna Mader being crowned Miss Tennessee USA 2013 and Emily Suttle being crowned Miss Tennessee Teen USA 2013.  Brenna was third runner-up in 2010 (she is the second of the 2010 runners-up to win the title) and held the Miss Wyoming Teen USA 2005 title - she is the first former Teen to win this year.  It has now been five years since a newbie won Tennessee.  Emily was competing for the first time.

Here are the full results for Miss Michigan USA & Teen USA.  New Miss Michigan USA Jaclyn Schultz is the first 2013 contestant crowned with no prior USA experience.  This was Michigan’s least experienced top five in TWELVE years - only one runner-up had competed previously.  

In the Teen division, Ruby King is the second 2013 Teen winner in a row who was 1RU last year.  She is the first Miss Michigan Teen USA with prior experience since Raquel McClendon in 2006.  Last year’s Teen 4th runner-upMallory Rivard also made the top five this year - but she & Ruby were the only Teen semi-finalists who had previously made the cut.

Chrissy Zamora is the new Miss Wisconsin USA & Kate Redeker is the new Miss Wisconsin Teen USA!  Chrissy previously competed in Minnesota, placing 2RU last year, 3RU in 2011 & T15 in 2010.  Kate was a semi-finalist at Miss Wisconsin Teen USA last year.

Both former Miss Wisconsin Teen USA titleholders made the top five in Miss, with Bishara Dorre placing 1RU for the second consecutive year & Victoria Johnston placing 4RU.  In Teen, former Miss Wisconsin’s Outstanding Teen Teaka Griesbach was 1RU and Lauren Skelton, first runner-up the previous two years, placed 2RU.

After competing for nine years in Florida, Texas and Pennsylvania Sheena Monnin finally has a Miss USA state title!  She is the latest in a string of 2012 titleholders who came close to “always the bridesmaid” status but pulled off a win at the last opportunity, so congrats to her!  She placed first runner-up in Pennsylvania the past two years so her win will be especially sweet.  Her first runner-up Valerie Compeggie finally broke into the top five after making the top fifteen every year since 2007, so congrats to her too!

Teen winner Julia Belechak is also a returning runner-up - second runner-up last year.  She is the first returning contestant to win PA since Sarah Otey in 2005.

Megan is the seventh former teen crowned this year and the seventh crowned in Indiana since 2000.  She succeeds Jillian Wunderlich who she competed against at Miss Teen USA 2008.  Both Megan & Jillian made the top 15 representing other states at Miss Teen USA - Jillian was Miss Florida Teen USA & Megan was Miss Virginia Teen USA.  Morgan Abel, Miss Indiana Teen USA 2008 placed second runner-up.  

Megan grew up in Indiana, lived in Japan for a few years and then moved to Virginia with her family in 2003.  She returned to Indiana to attend DePauw University for college.  She is the first Miss Virginia Teen USA to win another state’s Miss title.

In a rare occurrence two of the top five were former Teen USA titleholders, one was a former Miss Indiana (MAO) and the remaining two were runners-up for the third consecutive year.

Mackenzie placed third runner-up last year and is the first returning runner-up (and first returning contestant) to win since Morgan Abel in 2008.

Congratulations to last weekend’s state pageant winners =D

As you can see I have the Miss profiles up but not the Teens. Apologies for the lack of recent updates… as I have previously mentioned “real life” has been insanely hectic the past few weeks and I have only a fraction of the time to devote to my site that I have had in recent years… disappoints me but there’s not much I can do about it!

Absolutely thrilled to see Jamie Dragon win Vermont. This was her seventh year competing - she has been a runner-up on six previous occasions and first competed in 2005 when she was first runner-up to Amanda Mitteer. Like her sister NE titleholder Marie-Lynn Piscitelli it is Wonderful to see her tenacity pay off! Four of the other Miss titleholders crowned this weekend have also competed and placed before.

Myverick Garcia was first runner-up and also garnered the Photogenic and Congeniality titles at Miss Mississippi USA last year. She is the fifth 2011 first runner-up to win a state title this year.

Catherine Muldoon is the fifth former Teen USA state titleholder to win a 2012 title. Like many other former 2004 teens she competed in a state other than that which she represented at Teen USA - at least ten 2004 teens have now competed in other states! She will be the eighth 2004 Teen to compete at Miss Teen USA and the first since 2009. She is the ninth former Teen to win in Virginia (now six in the past ten years) and the first to win having held a Teen title in another state. This is the second time a former Miss New York Teen USA has won another state’s Miss title. Catherine was also fourth runner-up at Miss New York USA last year and competed twice at Miss Georgia Teen USA prior to winning the 2004 Miss New York Teen USA title, including placing 2RU to Cassady Lance (Miss Georgia Teen USA 2003 & Miss Georgia USA 2010).

Katie Kearney in Missouri was a teen semi-finalist in 2004 and 2005 but had not previously competed for the Miss title, and Alaska’s winner Jessica Kazmierczak won on her first attempt (three of the last four Alaska titleholders have been Jessica!)

All the Teen titleholders this weekend won on their first attempt. Veronica Temple, Alaska’s titleholder, is the sister of Sarah Temple (Miss Alaska USA 2010) and was Miss Alaska’s Outstanding Teen 2009. She is the second Outstanding Teen state titleholder to win a USA state title this year.

Congratulations to the this weekend’s second pair of titleholders =)  As with Iowa Rebecca (Becca) Hodge, the new Miss Iowa USA 2012 has no prior experience, whilst Carissa Becker, Miss Iowa Teen USA 2012 placed first runner-up last year.  She is the third 2011 Teen first runner-up to win a title this year, following Kendall Fein crowned last night in Ohio and Kalani Jorgensen crowned last weekend in South Dakota.
